Good Health Requires Daily Walks

Humans are made to walk all day. If you do not walk, your health will suffer.

Your body requires movement to feed itself. The muscles, ligaments, tendons, cartilage and more, all rely on movement to be fed, and to rid themselves of waste products.

Today, people spend a lot of their day sitting. We sit in cars, planes, trains and at home.

Sitting down for hours everyday, wrecks havoc to our bodies. It causes weakness, which leads to degeneration. Compensatory mechanisms (such as trigger points) amplify the problem further.

Painful problems (such as plantar fasciitis) develop from not walking, which makes it difficult to walk. This creates a downward spiral!

If you want to be healthy, or you want to make sure that the plantar fasciitis never comes back, you must aim to walk daily. Get out of your car and get off the bicycle machine and get outside and walk!

The combination of toe spreading devices (click here) and semi-minimal shoes such as Altra's (click here), and releasing the hip flexor muscles/hamstring muscles/calf muscles, with trigger point therapy or kinetic chain stretching, will undo most problems created from sitting and wearing shoes.

After you are able to walk pain free, you must focus on increasing the distance and frequency of your walks. Walk in the morning, walk at night. Do not sit for more than 20 minutes at a time. Keep moving!

Over time you will be able to walk barefoot on uneven surfaces. This is your goal. Humans are made to walk on these surfaces, and have been doing so for a very long time.

Your body will thank you! As you age, walking will become even more important. Do not stop moving. And encourage your friends and family to keep moving.

There is much more to be said about this whole process. If your feet hurt, or you need a guide to fix this, I wrote a book on it :) You can check it out by clicking here: The Ultimate Guide to Strong Healthy Feet
