Plantar Fasciitis Treatment Combinations
Usually the best therapy for plantar fasciitis is a combination of therapies. I am very biased towards Soft Tissue Mobilization Methods because they are super effective and have no side effects (a big portion of the methods in my book are soft tissue mobilization methods), but I also like ESWT and have found it to be effective as well as some other kinds of treatments available.
Even though these methods are super effective, I have found that combining them in the right order causes them to work synergistically with each other to give you a large amount of relief (and hopefully a cure depending on the person).
This guide will not talk about what shoes/orthotics/taping/icing methods are best. This guide is only to show you which "Therapies" you should do, and in what order.

Alternative Plantar Fasciitis Therapies that WORK
• Trigger Point Therapy: Great for getting rid of the pain referrals from trigger points that is causing you most of your pain. Great for releasing muscles, not good for release the fascia adhesion's.
• Graston: My favorite one. Causes a huge break up of adhesion's and scar tissue in the fascia and the results you get from graston, usually stay for good. Also can release chronic muscle tightness effectively.
• Active Release Technique: Releases entrapped nerves, promotes lymphatic flow, releases adhesion's in the soft tissue to speed up healing. Well studied and will give you great results. Great for chronic and severe injuries.
• ESWT: Great for chronic injuries. Causes a localized spot of inflammation which causes the body to work extra hard to fix the damage, and fast. I recommend having ONLY low level or low energy shockwave machines only. They give you better results and faster healing times and are much cheaper to use than the more powerful machines (powerful is not better in this situation).
• ASTYM: Great for chronic injuries which has caused adhesion's in the fascia chains around the Plantar Fascia. If you have had pain for more than 6 weeks, it will help you a lot. Similar to graston, the results you get with astym stay for good.
• Cross Friction Massage: Great for scar tissue. Painful, but very effective. You need a doctor/therapist that is good at this skill to see results. I had horrible results with a physical therapist doing this at first. Later I went to a soft tissue specialist, and it hurt 100 times more, but my heel felt great after it was done.
• Myofascial Kinetic Chain Stretches (The Permanent Pain Cure/ The Plantar Fasciitis Survival Guide): This is a set of stretches that focus on the fascia. Very effective in my opinion AFTER you have released the muscles and adhesion's in the fascia. These stretches are great to make sure that the pain NEVER comes back. These are also included in my book as well.
• Plantar Fasciitis Survival Guide: Was inspired by all of the therapies mentioned earlier. It is a combination of similar techniques (my techniques), packed into one simple book. Takes care of the chronically tight muscles, adhesion's, tight kinetic chains, everything! (Click here to learn more about my book)
• Prolotherapy: Works ok. You need a good doctor that knows what they are doing. They have to inject in a very precise spot. It is shooting in the dark in my opinion. Does get great results if you find a good doctor.
• PRP: New kid on the block. This is the only therapy I have not had done, but there is a lot of good stories from people using it. I cannot stand by it enough to recommend it because I have not had it done, but check out this great article: Click Here to Learn about PRP

Plantar Fasciitis Therapy Combination - Chronic
If you have lots of money and want your heel pain gone ASAP, do this:
1. Start taking a systemic enzyme: Such as wobenzym n (more on this here: Plantar Fasciitis Vitamins and Supplements). Also start drinking plenty of water daily (starting right now).
2.Graston/ ASTYM/ Active Release Technique
3.ESWT:
4. Myofascial Kinetic Chain Stretches
If you do not have much money, but want the pain gone ASAP, do this:
1.Graston/ASTYM/Active Release Technique.
2. Buy my book "The Plantar Fasciitis Survival Guide": You will not be disappointed. The book has a step by step program to release the muscles, then the fascia, then cause a localized inflammatory response to get rid of the scar tissue and to promote cell growth and healing. It also has kinetic chain stretches in the end so that the pain never returns. It comes with a money back guarantee. Click Here to order now

2.Graston/ ASTYM/ Active Release Technique
- Choose one, and go AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
- These therapists will get your plantar fasciitis going in the right direction.
- They will get you out of the "downward spiral".
- Go at least 3 times. You should have results after the first visit no matter what.
3.ESWT:
- Low level or low energy shockwave only! (Ask the doctor before you make an appointment if it is this kind of machine)
- Wait until you complete at least three sessions of step #2.
- Do not get radial shockwave done, it does nothing.
- I think the "Sonocure" eswt machine is the best. "Piezosion 100" would be my next choice.
- If you can get it ultrasound guided, you found a good doctor.
- Ultrasound guided combined with low level eswt is the best.
- Get three sessions at least.
- Eswt does take a couple months till you see results. Keep taking those systemic enzymes.
- Do not take any NSAIDS at all! No aspirin or ibuprofen or anything!!! Very important!
4. Myofascial Kinetic Chain Stretches
- Two weeks after your last session of eswt, start kinetic chain stretches
- Two books have this, The Permanent Pain Cure and The Plantar Fasciitis Survival Guide
- These will make the muscles and fascia around the heel stay nice and released so the pain does not come back.

Severe Plantar Fasciitis Treatment Combination
(Partial Tear/ Rupture/Sports Related Injury/ Not Chronic)
1. See a Sports Doctor or Osteopath SOON. You could have hurt other structures or caused nerve or bone damage. You need to find out what's going on down there. MRI is expensive, but you may need it. Better to be safe than sorry!
2. If they see that nothing is wrong, and all you did was partially tear the plantar fascia, and they say "Rest it till its better", then you can move to step three. If they suggest going into a cast, follow their instructions accordingly.
3. Graston/ Active Release Technique /ASTYM

- Go as many times as they recommend.
One more word of advice: I am not a doctor, and this is all purely my opinion from experience and close friends/family's experience with heel pain. Please see my Medical Disclaimer for more information.
